LOS ANGELES, Calif., August 25, 2026 — Specright, the leader in AI-powered Specification Data Management™ (SDM) and modern Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), today announced a sweeping wave of product innovation that deepens the company’s investment in AI across its platform. The release includes the general availability of R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, enhancements to the Specright AI Assistant, and two new AI Assistant specialists: the Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent and the Packaging Selection Agent.

Today’s announcement builds on the AI-first vision unveiled at Spec Summit 2026 in New Orleans this past February, where the company introduced its evolution toward “Specification Intelligence,”  an AI-powered layer built on top of the industry’s first purpose-built SDM platform.

“We’ve been heads-down turning our AI-first vision into shipped products,” said Mike Boese, CEO of Specright. “This release is the clearest proof yet of what Specification Intelligence means in practice: an AI Assistant that plans and executes multi-step work, agents that catch problems before they become recalls or write-offs, and R&D Workbenches that let product developers move at the speed of AI without sacrificing the compliance rigor their business depends on. We are not bolting AI features onto our platform – we are building AI into the spec-first foundation itself.”

R&D Workbench Reaches a Milestone: General Availability for Food & Beverage

Specright’s R&D Workbench, the AI-native formulation, labeling, and claims solution the company previewed in early access at Spec Summit 2026, reaches General Availability for Food & Beverage teams.

R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage enables R&D and regulatory teams to create or modify formulas using natural language prompts, re-create formulas from reference products, auto-generate compliant nutrition panels, validate nutrient content claims in real time, and optimize formulas through AI-led ingredient substitutions. All of this happens within a single, connected platform with built-in support for FDA, EU Regulation 1169/2011, Health Canada, USDA, and other global frameworks.

Early customers reported meaningful gains across the formulation lifecycle:

This launch coincides with the newly published Gartner®’s report, Market Overview for PLM Software in Food and Beverage Manufacturing (August 2026), which finds the category still has significant room to grow. Citing that only 32% of food and beverage manufacturers have adopted a PLM solution today, with adoption projected to grow 134% by 2030. The report also lists specification management as a mandatory capability for F&B PLM software: in our opinion the same principle Specright has built its platform around from the start*.

The next vertical solution will be R&D Workbench for Personal Care. Like R&D Workbench for Food & Beverage, it’s built on the same spec-first architecture that allows finalized formulas to flow directly into Specright’s PLM solution, providing one connected system from bench to manufacturing.

AI Assistant: Ask Your Spec Data Anything, Get Answers in Seconds

Specright is also formally introducing the Specright AI Assistant, giving teams additional avenues for interacting with the Specright platform. Teams are now able to ask natural-language questions about ingredients, formulas, packaging, or finished goods and get an instant, traceable answer pulled straight from live records.

For a quality manager who can update a spec’s status and route it for approval without leaving the conversation, or a packaging engineer who can turn a sourcing recommendation into a new specification with a single request, the AI Assistant does more than answer questions, it gets the work done.

Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent Finds What’s Missing Before It Becomes a Problem

The Specright AI Assistant is also the home for a growing set of specialist agents working proactively in the background. The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent proactively finds what is missing, incorrect, or suspicious in specification data and routes users to the right next action. Because specification data drives every downstream decision, even small gaps or errors can cascade into compliance exposure, lost margin, and production disruption. This agent understands the PLM domain and customer configurations, including product hierarchies, business rules, and regulatory requirements, rather than performing generic validation.

Packaging Selection Agent Ranks Sourcing Options, Not Just Search Results

Specright also introduces the Packaging Selection Agent, an intelligent sourcing specialist built directly into the Specright AI Assistant. Rather than simply searching for materials, the agent ranks them, weighing competing priorities such as performance and sustainability to surface options that are more cost effective or more sustainable. It also validates availability by connecting internal SpecGraph data with external supplier catalogs and material databases.

As the agent works, it streams its reasoning step by step with source attribution, so users can see exactly how each recommendation was reached.

“Every agent we ship has to pass the same test: does it make a real decision easier without taking control away from the person who owns that decision,” said Karthik Rajagopal, Chief Product Officer of Specright. “The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent and the Packaging Selection Agent are built exactly that way – they do the heavy lifting of finding problems and ranking options, then handing the decision back to the packaging engineer, the quality manager, or the sourcing lead. That is the design principle behind everything in our AI Assistant: security, choice, and human control, by default, every time.”
