At Spec Summit 2026, we laid out where Specright is headed: an AI-driven, spec-first PLM. Summer 2026 is the biggest step yet on that path. Release 34 expands the Specright AI Assistant with two new specialist agents, brings meaningful new capability to the R&D Workbench, and introduces a new, AI-powered way to get supplier data into Specright: clean and fast, without forcing every supplier onto a template.

Here’s a look at the highlights.

Your Spec Data, Self-Auditing: Meet the Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent

Specification data drives every downstream decision your team makes, so a missing field, a stale certificate, or a duplicate record doesn’t stay small. It cascades into compliance exposure, margin leakage, and production disruption.

The Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent is a new specialist inside the Specright AI Assistant that proactively finds what’s missing, incorrect, or suspicious in your specification data and routes you to the right next action. It understands the Specright domain, so its findings are relevant, not generic. The agent detects missing fields, statistical outliers and mismatched values, duplicate records (with estimated consolidation savings), expiring certificates, stalled workflows, and broken data links — on demand, or via a daily briefing tailored to each user’s role.

For teams managing large specification libraries, this turns data quality from a periodic fire drill into an ongoing check, re-ranked by role. A Quality Manager sees expiring certificates first, a Sustainability Director sees recyclability gaps first. Detection is read-only, and every fix still runs through Specright’s existing approval and audit controls.

Smarter Sourcing, Built Into the Assistant: the Packaging Selection Agent

Finding the right packaging material has always meant reading dozens of supplier datasheets by hand, then weighing cost against performance against sustainability with no systematic way to compare.

The Packaging Selection Agent is a new intelligent sourcing agent inside the Specright AI Assistant. Rather than returning an undifferentiated search result, it ranks materials against what matters for your decision — cheaper, stronger, greener — validating availability against internal SpecGraph data and external customer-approved data catalogs. It guides users through common sourcing workflows: technical sourcing against hard constraints, cost reduction with trade-offs surfaced, sustainable substitution, supplier selection by proximity, and new technology discovery. Launch it with a plain-language request, such as “find me a bio-based alternative to this plastic cap,” and watch it reason step by step, with every recommendation attributed to its source.

For packaging engineers, procurement, and sustainability leads, this turns hours of manual datasheet review into a transparent, minutes-long comparison with reasoning and sources visible. Results can be saved as a comment or promoted straight into a new specification.

A New Front Door for Supplier Data: Introducing Supplier Network

Collecting supplier-held product, spec, compliance, and sustainability data today is a manual, one-off project: batch emails to hundreds of suppliers, files that come back in a dozen formats, hand-normalization into a spreadsheet, and a load into Specright that can take months when it should take days.

Supplier Network is a new, AI-powered front door for that data. Instead of asking suppliers to learn a portal or conform to a template, it accepts data in whatever format they already use — Excel, PDF, any language — and AI maps and validates it against your required fields on intake. Teams configure requests from reusable templates, AI maps submissions with per-field confidence scores so reviewers only touch flagged exceptions, and approved data writes directly into Specright — no export, no import. Automated reminders and dashboards keep program owners ahead of deadlines.

Supplier Network is a natural extension of Supplier Collaboration: Collaboration remains the ongoing motion — approvals, live spec work, documents — while this is the intake motion that gets supplier data in fast, at scale. For teams building toward EPR, sustainability, or other compliance reporting, it’s the data foundation those programs have been waiting for.

Getting Ahead of PPWR: Declaration of Conformity, Built In

Starting August 12, 2026, any company placing packaged goods on the EU market must be able to produce a PPWR Declaration of Conformity (DoC) on demand. The problem: the documentation required to produce a DoC is scattered across suppliers, PDFs, and disconnected systems. Gathering it all manually, across dozens of suppliers and hundreds of SKUs, can take months.

Specright already holds much of what a DoC requires, fed by Supplier Network, our new AI-powered front door for pulling that data in from suppliers in whatever format they send it. Our Summer 2026 release adds a purpose-built workflow on top of that data. Every finished good gets a new PPWR: DoC tab tracking readiness at the component level, pulling together existing system data, new required fields, and required supporting documents — checked against all eight in-scope PPWR articles, with the Data Anomaly and Gaps Agent flagging missing fields or expiring certificates before they become a filing problem. When it’s time, a guided flow collects manufacturer and EU representative details, article applicability, and compliance narratives, and produces two outputs: a standalone Declaration (Annex VIII) ready for signature and filing, and a full technical documentation dossier for audit response.

For sustainability directors, compliance teams, and packaging managers, this turns DoC generation from a document-hunting exercise into a guided, minutes-long workflow.

The R&D Workbench Gets Enterprise-Ready

Spring 2026 brought the R&D Workbench to general availability for Food & Beverage. Summer 2026 pushes it toward a fully connected part of the Specright platform, with three developments worth calling out.

First, onboarding is dramatically faster. Specright’s CS team can now import a customer’s existing R&D library directly into the Workbench during onboarding — turning a bespoke, weeks-long migration into a same-day step, with full traceability back to the source records.

Second, the Workbench now syncs bi-directionally with Specright Core. Formulas, ingredients, and finished goods move between the Workbench and the rest of the PLM as a single connected record, with a full audit log — so R&D formulates in the Workbench while production, supply chain, and compliance work the same data downstream. Regulatory coverage also expands with customer-defined custom claims and a unified product category system that keeps formulator selections and AI suggestions aligned.

Third, the Workbench’s AI now plans and runs multi-step work end to end. A new chat interface takes a goal — a candidate reformulation, a comparative trial analysis, a category research report — and executes the steps to deliver a finished, grounded result, with every claim traceable to a cited source.

Release 34 also brings updates across compliance, formulation, and the core platform — including Custom Compliance Rules, expanded AI Assistant controls, and Spec Grid, Tasks, and Mass Revision improvements.
