It’s been about 30 days since Specright announced Mike Boese as new CEO, taking over from Founder and Executive Chairman Matthew Wright. It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the pair as Mike joined Matthew on the road to meet with customers, partners, and employees in person.

As Mike begins leading Specright into its next phase of growth, I thought it’d be great to check in with Mike to learn more about him and his priorities for the next year… and beyond.
Below are some of the highlights from our conversation.
Can you share a bit about your professional background and what attracted you to Specright?
“I have been fortunate to have a wide variety of experiences in helping to scale technology businesses and drive product innovation. These different experiences and challenges excite me. I’ve worked with SMB and Enterprise customers at renowned companies like Taleo, SAP, PeopleSoft, and Oracle. I’ve also scaled B2B SaaS startups.
Most recently, I served as CEO of Hearsay, where I helped drive significant growth, improved customer and employee satisfaction, and grew our number of employees by 50%. We introduced key product innovations, including AI/ML capabilities and successfully merged with Yext (NYSE: YEXT)..
I was also fortunate to have the opportunity to join Specright and build upon its mission-driven culture and its category leadership in Specification Management. We have an exciting opportunity to accelerate Specright’s market momentum to further enhance supply chain digitization and efficiency. The opportunity is enormous and I know by partnering with our customers and technology partners we will continue to transform how companies make amazing, sustainable things.”
What excites you most about Specright's spec-first methodology in Specification Management?
“Specright's spec-first approach empowers companies to digitize and manage their specifications effectively leading to significant cost reductions, Additionally, we can leverage digitize specifications for other, high value use cases whether that's improving quality, complying with new Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) regulations, accelerating product development, or enabling efficient supplier collaboration. There is also a great opportunity to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) technology against robust specification data sets. For example, AI provides opportunities to further automate specification creation and management and enable recommended actions with the right controls.”
As CEO, what are your top priorities for Specright in the coming year?
“My primary focus will be on scaling customer operations, driving product innovation, and nurturing Specright's mission-driven culture.
Customer operations improvements will include refinements to our customer servicing model and ensuring customers have a key, primary contact to help them get the most out of our solutions. It also includes Specright sharing best practices in a more systemic manner to further accelerate time to value.
From a product perspective, I’ll be partnering with our Product Team, to enhance our patented Specification Data Management (SDM) platform's capabilities in the areas of packaging, PLM, integrations, AI, and reporting. We will also be pushing hard on our one-to-one and one-to-many collaboration capabilities to deliver even more accurate and timely specification management.
Specright has a great customer centric, employee centric culture. We wanted to build on this foundation and drive even stronger organization health through accountability, courage, and commitment.”
How does Specright plan to ensure it meets and exceeds customer expectations under your leadership?
“The key is to keep making our Credo a real, tangible pillar for how we behave. Part of our Credo is to positively engage with those who need us, and we will continue to focus on our customers’ challenges and how we can help solve them. By actively listening to customer feedback and continuously improving the platform, Specright aims to deliver solutions that not only meet but exceed customer expectations, thereby building lasting partnerships.”
