The Specright Product Team has been hard at work to release our third major release of 2023, Version 23.0. This release includes new features and improvements to existing features.

In this blog, we’ll be highlighting the major features we released, but more details about the entirety of our 23.0 release will be addressed in the Product 23 Release webinar.

New features to our Specification Data Management Platform

Revision Management – Change Requests and Mass Update

The new Change Requests capability introduces a controlled way to perform mass updates to records. Users can initiate change requests with an approval workflow to ensure only authorized updates are made, improving data governance and integrity.

This feature reduces the effort required to update multiple records, supports auditing and compliance needs, and enables teams to work more efficiently while maintaining high data quality standards.

Plan for Every Part (PFEP) & View Components – Phase 1

To support increasingly complex supply chains, Specright now includes a standard capability to manage operational instructions within the platform. These instructions can be used to create operator-facing views for activities such as pack-outs.

Instructions are treated as specifications and can be linked to multiple Finished Goods, extending Specright usage to downstream operational users and enabling more consistent execution.

FDA Supplier Recalls/Inspection Data Integration

Specright now integrates FDA compliance data, giving customers access to inspection and recall information related to their facilities and suppliers. This integration enhances visibility into regulatory risk and supports more informed compliance and supplier management decisions.

Key benefits include:

  • Centralized access to FDA inspection and recall data

  • Improved supplier performance evaluation

  • Configurable alerts for compliance-related updates

COMPASS Product LCA

We are expanding upon our last product release by continuing to improve on our partnership with Trayak and its COMPASS solution for LCAs.  The latest version of the integration enables users to quickly run LCAs on their Product BOMs, in addition to the feature’s original Packaging BOM capability.

This enhancement helps teams streamline environmental impact analysis, reduce manual data entry, and strengthen sustainability initiatives with product-level insights.

Improvements to our Specification Data Management Platform

Spec Compare – Related List Comparisons

Spec Compare has been enhanced to support comparisons across both parent and child records. Users can now analyze how changes in related data impact overall specifications, enabling more comprehensive analysis and faster, more informed decisions.

UoM Conversion Enhancements

The Unit of Measure (UoM) feature helps improve accuracy, supports global teams, and allows customers to tailor unit conversions to their specific business needs. In the 23.0 release, we have added two enhancements for admins so they can convert any unit pairings that have a defined conversion factor.

1) Conversion factor override: admins can change or add more decimal places to the conversion factor used between two units

2) Custom Unit Support: admins can define conversion factors for field pairings that include at least one field in a unit that is not available in the standard Specright unit list.

Dynamic Clone & Custom Supersede Enhancements

We have updated the Clone and Supersede functionalities to allow for fields in the modal and different related lists. Admins can configure different fields and related lists for various record types.

Key Benefits of Dynamic Clone & Custom Supersede Enhancements:

  • Allows admins to control which fields and related lists display when a user is cloning or superseding a record.
  • Different related lists by record type allow for accuracy when conducting a clone or supersede.
  • Managed auto-numbering functionality linking data from the record itself to generate a unique ID.

IDP Email Submission Capability

IDP now supports document submission via email, allowing suppliers and vendors to send COA or COI documents directly to designated inboxes. Attachments are automatically processed and routed for review.

This enhancement simplifies supplier communication, reduces manual effort, improves turnaround times, and provides an audit trail for compliance purposes.

Updates to Sustainability YoY Benchmarking Reports

Sustainability year-over-year benchmarking has been expanded to allow customers to track custom sustainability fields beyond the standard set. This enables more tailored reporting aligned to company goals, industry requirements, and evolving sustainability priorities.

Key benefits include:

  • Customized sustainability tracking

  • Flexibility as goals evolve

  • Improved regulatory and industry compliance

Specright Specification Data Management Enhancements

Several additional enhancements and fixes improve platform usability and reliability, including updates to visual hierarchy connections, custom record pages, history tracking localization, file viewing, and integration stability.

As mentioned earlier these are only a few of the new capabilities and enhancements in Release 23.0. If you’re interested in learning more, watch our on-demand webinar here. You can always reach out to our team to learn more.
