Irvine, CA September 12, 2020 —Specright’s Katie Exum received the On the Rise Award from PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies.

The On the Rise Awards honor individuals who are emerging leaders. According to PMMI, recipients show dedication to their company and to the processing and packaging industry through a commitment to learning and professional development.

Katie previously worked at Amazon, where she learned the ins and outs of packaging testing. She used this experience to help develop and launch PackSight, a groundbreaking online packaging testing platform for ISTA standards, in partnership with ISTA.

“Katie’s work with PackSight is saving packaging testing labs a tremendous number of hours, increasing testing visibility to brand owners, and ultimately enabling analytics that will benefit the packaging industry as a whole,” said Adam Armstrong, VP Strategic Partnerships at Specright. "Both internal and external coworkers recognize the exceptional work Katie puts in on a daily basis."

Eric Hiser, VP of Standards and Certification at ISTA, shared “Katie and her ability to distill complex scenarios between several different technical disciplines along with her meticulous attention to detail proved to us that she was both a crucial asset to the development of PackSight and a true leader.”

Katie continually exemplifies the qualities of an Emerging Leader, dedicating time to mentor Specright team members and students at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.

“I am so appreciative of PMMI for recognizing the work I’ve done with both Specright and ISTA PackSight,” Exum said. “This is truly a reflection of the team I work on, and the opportunities available at Specright to learn and grow professionally.”
